Galactic Overlook

The North Cascades were an unexpected surprise on my travels and the view from this mountain pass was spectacular both day and night.

Guiding Light

Throughout most of the evening, there was a steady flow of people walking along this pier on a sunset stroll. However, for a brief few moments as the sun fell below the horizon behind me, I had this view entirely to myself.

Morning Brilliance

“80% of success is showing up” – Woody Allen
I love sunrises. They are the most peaceful time of day where the wind is often just a gentle breeze, the water can look like a mirror and the colors in sky will be their most vivid. Sunrises in the summer months can be a challenge though…. that usually means a 3:30 am wakeup call for a photographer, and I am not a morning person. But it starts by just getting one foot out of bed and on the floor. The rest is just showing up.

Teton Beauty

A couple questions that I get all the time regarding my photography & travel are “What is your favorite place to photograph” and “What is your favorite National Park”? The Grand Tetons are an easy answer for both questions. They are absolutely one of my favorite places on the planet.

Teton Reflection

The Grand Tetons is at the top of my list for favorite National Parks in the US. Views like this are common throughout the park all year and most are easily accessible.

Isolation or Perseverance

Call it Isolation….or Perseverance. This pine tree (I forget which kind even though I asked multiple times) is a model of both. It has amazingly found a way to survive in a harsh climate entirely on it’s own….not to mention in the middle of a huge rock.
