Isolation or Perseverance

Call it Isolation….or Perseverance. This pine tree (I forget which kind even though I asked multiple times) is a model of both. It has amazingly found a way to survive in a harsh climate entirely on it’s own….not to mention in the middle of a huge rock.

Liftoff

A few weeks ago, while I was in Albuquerque, I went on my first hot air balloon ride. It was quite an experience silently floating over the city at sunrise with the noise and chaos below.

Winged Rock

Shiprock – The Navajo name for the peak, Tsé Bitʼaʼí, “rock with wings” or “winged rock”, refers to the legend of the great bird that brought the Navajo from the north to their present lands. The name “Shiprock” or Shiprock Peak or Ship Rock derives from the peak’s resemblance to an enormous 19th-century clipper ship.
